Business casual refers to dress codes that are less strict than traditional business wear but still tidy professional and appropriate for an office environment.

Since this is the least dressy of the dress codes it s open to interpretation but we d probably avoid wearing head to toe activewear. In the evening they would change into a tailcoat for dinner and events. Outfits should still be clean pressed and fit. A casual dress code at a restaurant is honestly a little vague in general going out to eat means dressing a touch more elevated than something you d be wearing to cook dinner at home.

There was simply daywear and evening wear. Until recently the business casual attire dress code did not exist. For example you might wear a full suit with a jacket and tie for a job with a business professional dress code but for a business casual dress code you could wear slacks and a dress shirt without the jacket and tie. Now understandably with the plethora of businesses this dress type becomes obscure leading to many ideas of what is considered appropriate.

Remember the business part of business casual and leave your old comfortable clothes at home. Once retiring for bed pajamas would be donned as would a dressing gown but the chance of anyone seeing.
